Yawara Kai (八原 かい, Yawara Kai) is the first friend of Hitori Bocchi, and the reason she promised to be friends with the entire class.
Appearance[]
Yawara Kai is a pretty short girl with amber colored eyes and a brown, bowl cut that covers her entire head with an antennae which is a symbol that (per Bocchi) is where she is located.
While in middle school, she usually wears her school attire which generally looks like the stereotypical sailor suit with as the main colors white, blue and red.

She's very sweet and caring because of her promise to Hitori Bocchi.

Hitori Bocchi[]
Hitori Bocchi is the childhood friend of Yawara Kai with whom she made a promise to help her get out of her shell and make more friends on her own. She's very persistent on this promise and it has been shown that she even held this promise to the point that she herself broke down to tears. According to her friends she, like Bocchi, often talks about her childhood friend and in Yawara Kai's case, on how she's incredibly worried about her anxious friend.
